The Megan Rand Scholarship helps MGH IHP Physician Associate students pursue clinical rotations in remote and medically underserved communities.

To foster MGH-IHP PA students in bringing passion, interest, and engagement to underserved communities and austere medical environments, and to “Leave things better than we found them.”

In honor of Megan Rand
Her career was an adventure, driven by service and care.
Megan Rand, PA-C, was a Physician Associate, former Paramedic, and wilderness medicine clinician who applied what she learned with courage, initiative, and compassion.
While enrolled in the PA Studies program at MGH IHP, she arranged her own clinical rotation to Everest Base Camp ER through the Wilderness Medical Society, far removed from the resources of a major medical center.
Even after graduation, she was drawn to communities and environments where care was hardest to reach.
Megan’s philosophy was simple:
“Always leave things better than you found them.”

Recipients use Scholarship funds to help cover travel, housing, food, and related costs tied to clinical rotations.
Past recipients returned with stronger clinical judgment, a broader perspective on what it means to do this kind of impactful work, and a deeper sense of purpose.
